tes produced all the marketing materials for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) UK Conference, which took place in Edinburgh, 19–20 April 2010. We also wrote and designed the post-conference report “Nature – What’s in it For You?”, and sourced stunning photographs from 2020VISION, a project involving the UK’s top wildlife photographers, to complement the conference’s themes.

Comments about the report were very favourable.

“This report is really great, indeed simple, readable, and absolutely beautiful.”

Julia Marton-Lefèvre, director general, IUCN

“One of the best event reports I have ever seen at IUCN!”

John Kidd, head global communications, IUCN.

Natural England commissioned tes to produce a biodiversity case study report as part of the Natural Economy Northwest project.

The target audience for the report were policymakers and economists, and the client looked to us for an innovative design that focused on the socioeconomic benefits of the case study projects. We proposed a solution using highquality photography to help convey the key messages.

The report was completed to an excellent standard in just four weeks, including writing and subediting the text; setting up, art directing and shooting the photography; and design, layout and proofreading. Display materials were also produced to promote the publication.

tes has worked with the National Trust on a wide range of communication projects for several years.

One particular project related to a sustainable housing project, known as Stamford Brook, on land adjacent to the Dunham Massey Estate near Manchester, UK. Before the project started, we produced materials that explained to the local communities that the proposed housing development would be a best-practice example of sustainability.

Four years later, when the first stage of the project was complete, we produced a magazine-style review. tes managed the entire project, including the commissioning of photography. The National Trust uses this publication as a key knowledge-transfer tool and to share best practice with government and other strategic bodies.

tes has worked on stakeholder communication projects with ScottishPower Renewables for seven years.

The original brief was to help the company win more planning consents for renewable energy projects. Our work started with the production of a communication strategy that established a plan for subsequent marketing and communication activities. Since then, tes has supported ScottishPower Renewables with a wide variety of communications, including extensive stakeholder engagement materials and accompanying corporate brochures.

During the time we have worked with ScottishPower Renewables, the company has won numerous consents for some of Europe’s largest wind farms and many awards. ScottishPower Renewables has now merged with Iberdrola to become one of the world’s largest renewable energy companies.

tes has provided marketing and communication support throughout the UK to the environmental charity Groundwork for over 15 years.

During this time, we have been involved in a wide range of projects, but we have particularly worked with Groundwork in Merseyside to engage local businesses in sustainability, including through the formation of the Merseyside Business Environment Network, MERBEN.

tes produced a communication strategy for this three-year European Objective-One-funded project, and then directed and implemented all the marketing and communication throughout the life of the programme. This involved producing a new brand, a website, e-marketing, brochures, newsletters and exhibition stands. The MERBEN programme was seen as a very successful Objective One project and received an extension to its funding.
