Sean Gamble

Managing director

Sean became tes managing director in 2009 after working with the company for nearly 20 years. As well as being in charge of our business, he plays a prime, client-management role for some of our most valued customers and involves himself with projects right across the board. When all around are in danger of losing the plot (it happens sometimes), Sean is the one who holds everything together. Sean has a BSc (Hons) in mechanical engineering.

Bill Clewes

Operations director

Bill Clewes is operations director of tes and head of the company’s editorial group. He has been with the company for 10years, during which time he has worked on a range of communications for clients in the oil industry including Shell, BP, Nexen, Schlumberger, Golar LNG and Acteon. He specialises in executive speeches, presentations and technological feature articles. Before joining tes, Bill spent over 20 years working in the oil industry: first with BP and then with Brown & Root. He is drawn to all things oil and gas, and maintains a keen interest in renewable energy economics.

Dominic Haughton

Associate Director

Dominic has been at tes since 1996. As well as being account manager for Schlumberger, he is a first-class technical writer with outstanding experience of the upstream oil industry. He was the prime mover behind our award-winning, tender-support service to Schlumberger, and is heavily involved in the same company’s corporate responsibility communications programme. Dominic has written and produced more than 20 major oilfield-related publications, and has been behind the creation of numerous technical multimedia and video productions. He has an MA (Hons) in engineering, and specialist knowledge of oilfield reservoir-data acquisition and interpretation techniques.

Stella Whyte

Associate Director

Stella has been with tes for 13 years and is a highly experienced accounts and project manager. She has managed major projects for companies in a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, biotechnology, renewable energy, environmental consultancy and forensic science. Her particular areas of expertise include strategic communications planning, stakeholder engagement and advertising. Stella has a BSc (Hons) in agricultural environmental science and a supplementary degree in project management.

Paul Clarke

Associate Director

Paul is a specialist in environmental communications. His particular expertise is in strategic consultancy, and he has worked on successful energy and environmental projects for a range of clients. He often speaks at events about the environment and low-emission vehicles, and he chaired the 2009 Scottish Energy and Environment Conference. Paul has extensive knowledge of renewable energy and associated stakeholder communications, particularly in printed communication and Internet marketing.

Alison Short

Project manager

Alison has worked for tes for nine years, and currently looks after three of our major accounts. She is directly responsible for delivering high-profile customer magazines for Shell and Acteon. Alison is a major part of the reason tes has such a great reputation for getting high-quality work out on time and within budget. She has a certificate in journalism from the London College of Printing.

David Howell

Senior writer

David delivers key, high-end communications collateral for a range of clients across the oil and gas sector, most notably Shell Global Solutions. This includes writing and consultancy for flagship marketing campaigns, creating thought leadership on the dynamics of the downstream sector, and developing highly detailed brochures on refinery technologies. Before joining tes in 2001, he worked on the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Professional Engineering magazine. David’s qualifications include a BEng (Hons) in engineering and an MPhil research degree.

Dr Peter Taylor

Senior writer

Peter joined tes in January 2004 after gaining a PhD in geology and working as a geological consultant and university lecturer. His research and work for tes have taken him to countries as diverse as India, Greenland, Libya and Kazakhstan for an equally diverse range of energy and environmental clients. His work includes speech writing, producing technical marketing and communication materials, and technical brochures. Peter increasingly applies his geological and scientific-communication knowledge to environmental topics; he supports the writing of wind-farm development tenders and produces articles about carbon capture and storage, and low-carbon technologies.

Dr Dave Robertson

Senior Writer

Dave joined tes in 1993 and writes for a wide range of technical and non-technical publications. As a geologist, he specialises in writing marketing and communication materials for companies in the oil and gas business. This includes developing advertising concepts, organising web content and writing feature articles on subjects ranging from applied technology to economics and knowledge management. Dave recently researched and wrote a 25-year anniversary book for Schlumberger Cambridge Research. He has a PhD in earth sciences.

Emma Blaney

Creative Director

Emma joined tes in 1992, and has overall responsibility for all the work produced by our creative design team. This involves managing creative projects from concept to completion, translating marketing objectives into creative strategies, and directing the creative team in the production of marketing collateral. Emma is the creative rock on which tes is founded and is well known for speaking her mind. She has a BA (Hons) in graphic design.

Sarah Matthews

Senior Designer

Sarah manages all the graphic design and style requirements of Schlumberger, Shell Helix and Shell Advance. For the last seven years, Sarah has been responsible for designing and producing the Shell Global Solutions customer magazine, Impact. She is fully experienced in reprographics and has been involved in designing brochures, exhibition material and websites. Before tes, Sarah worked in the newspaper industry for two years, part of the reason she is so skilled in news layout work.

Mike Whyte

Senior designer

Mike has been a graphic designer at tes for over 17 years, and knows our business from back to front. He specialises in corporate identity and page layout design and conceptual advertising. In addition, he is one of our very best project managers. Mike has a BA (Hons) in graphic design.

Dale Pealing

Designer

Dale joined tes in 2008, and brought with him a wealth of experience in branding, brochure design and website development for the corporate and environmental sectors. He counts lomography (light-hearted, snapshot photography) among his interests, and this influences a good deal of his design work. Dale has an HND in design communications.

Kerry Jones

Graphic designer

Kerry has extensive graphic design and layout experience, having worked as a graphic design consultant in the education, leisure and property development and business communication sectors since 2002. Since joining tes in 2007, she has worked on numerous brand-identity design projects for a variety of clients and is also responsible for the design and layout of the RSK in-house magazine Frame. Kerry has a BA (Hons) in graphic design.

Christine Hudson

Technical editor

Christine has more than 14 years’ experience in technical publishing, and has worked for tes for over 11 years. It is Christine’s job to ensure that the quality of the copy we produce is consistently high for all of our clients. Accuracy, clarity and consistency are her watchwords, and she keeps us all on our toes. Christine has a BSc (Jt Hons) in chemistry and biochemistry from Nottingham University.

Steve Holland

Designer

Steve has worked at tes for 15 years where he has built up tremendous experience that runs across every aspect of our design function. He is an accomplished cameraman and is intensely interested in film production, in particular, 3D animation.

Rebecca Ham

Designer

Rebecca has worked at tes for five years, and is an expert in print management. While working as one of our best up-and-coming designers, she is studying part-time for her BA (Hons) in graphic design.

Danny McDermott

Web developer

Danny has 15 years of experience in web and multimedia development, programming and desktop publishing. His expertise covers ASP Classic and ASP.net, PHP, mySQL, SQL Server, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, Flash, Flex, ActionScript, Visual Basic.net, XML, XSLT and MVC frameworks. He has worked for a wide range of clients, including Shell Global Solutions, Shell Lubricants, Nexen and Acteon. Danny recently completed work on a carbon-trading computer game for Fortis Bank that was nominated for an environmental excellence award.

Helen Gardiner

Senior writer

Helen writes mainly trade press and client magazine articles for a wide range of tes clients, including Shell and Schlumberger. Since joining the company, she has been a regular contributor to the Shell Global Solutions customer magazine, Impact, and enjoys interviewing influential people and gathering information from which to write a story. Project management is also a key part of her role, and she works with clients, writers and designers to produce a range of communication materials. Helen also has experience of media relations, having worked with clients to produce and place articles in key industry trade magazines. She has a BA (Hons) in English literature.

Ruth Dodd

Distribution manager

Ruth is responsible for ensuring that the products we create reach our client locations worldwide, on time and in a cost-efficient way. Having worked for tes for nearly 20 years, Ruth has in-depth experience of everything we do, is one of our key people and helps to hold our company together.

Sue Grocott

Personal assistant

Sue is an expert administrator and personal assistant. She provides secretarial support to the entire company and ensures that we are well cared for when we go on our frequent travels. In addition, Sue is our health and safety officer, and manages the sustainable maintenance and housekeeping of our Tattenhall office.

Karen Manley

Administrator

Karen has worked for tes for 15 years and is responsible for much of the day-to-day financial administration of the company. Her knowledge of our client base and understanding of their contracting practices ensure that projects are initiated and closed out seamlessly, and with the minimum of fuss.

Paul Darlington

New Media Developer

Paul has worked for tes since 1996. As a new media developer, he produces websites, writes CSS and uses new technologies such as jQuery and MooTools. He is involved in multimedia construction projects. He has an HND in design and communication for electronic media, and is particularly interested in new audio-related web technologies.

Vicki Griffiths

Production Manager

Since 1992, Vicki has ensured the smooth running of our production department while being responsible for controlling the quality of print and other tes media. She has close, valuable working relationships with numerous printers, both locally and further afield. Vicki is our in-house expert on promotional items.

Adrian Phillips

New media developer

Adrian has been a new media developer at tes for 13 years. His experience ranges from complex website construction to creating Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. He is involved with animation work, video production and photography, and has substantial project management experience. Adrian has an HND in design and visual communications.
