Cycle-to-work success

Around 20% of tes’ Tattenhall-based workforce now regularly cycles to work during the summer months. The office is in a rural area and few of the staff live locally, which makes the number of people leaving their cars behind more noteworthy. In fact, Steve Holland, the keenest cyclist and tes’ carbon-reduction officer, has a daily round trip of nearly 50 km.

Steve commented: “Not everyone is in a position to be able to cycle, but those of us who can are making an effort. It’s good for the environment and there is a lot to be said for the adage ‘healthy body, healthy mind’, which is good news for our customers.”

tes actively encourages physical activity through shower facilities in its offices, corporate gym memberships and a cycle-to-work scheme that enables employees to buy tax-free bikes.
